LIVING WELL

“Your body is a gift from God.
What you do with it, is your gift back to Him.”

There are three simple decisions you can make today to HONOR GOD with YOUR BODY.

1. EAT in a way that fuels you for EXCELLENCE.

This includes eating whole, nutrient-dense foods and at least 1 gram of protein for every pound of bodyweight. (Example: If you weigh 150 lbs., eat 150 grams of protein.)

Avoid sodas and alcohol.

Drink lots of water.

2. EXERCISE to gain strength and improve flexibility, mobility, and endurance.

This includes cardio like walking and jogging every day. Just 30 minutes of walking every day has significant benefits for your physical and mental health.

A great exercise routine should also involve strength training at least three times a week.

3. REST in a way that reveals that you really trust God.

This involves SABBATH (Exodus 20:8-11; Matthew 11:28) and SLEEP (Psalm 4:8; 127:2;  Proverbs 3:24)

Becoming healthy isn’t rocket science. It’s basic science.

Physical health isn’t about being the most MUSCULAR or “CUT” person in your workplace, church, or people group.

It isn’t necessarily about SIZE or SHAPE.

It’s about never having to say, “NO.” to something you want to do simply because of DECISIONS you made or FAILED TO MAKE about your health.

It’s about being able to DO THE THINGS you LOVE and CARE about. Things like chasing your kids and grandkids around in the backyard.

It’s about not just living long, but LIVING WELL. Unfortunately, far too often many of us are not living longer, we’re just dying slower. When you make a decision to get healthy, you’re making a decision to LIVE EVERY MOMENT that God gives you.

It’s about being FULLY FUNCTIONAL, especially as you get older and more mature.

It’s about REACHING YOUR FULL POTENTIAL as a person made in the image of God.

Being a good steward or manager of God’s gifts is an aspect of DISCIPLESHIP (1 Peter 4:10; 1 Corinthians 4:2).

Always remember:

“Your body is a gift from God.
What you do with it, is your gift back to Him.”

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” —1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NLT
